Goat detained over armed robbery

LAGOS (Reuters) - Police in Nigeria are holding a goat on suspicion
of attempted armed robbery.

Vigilantes took the black and white beast to the police saying it was
an armed robber who had used black magic to transform himself into a
goat to escape arrest after trying to steal a Mazda 323.

"The group of vigilante men came to report that while they were on
patrol they saw some hoodlums attempting to rob a car. They pursued
them. However one of them escaped while the other turned into a
goat," Kwara state police spokesman Tunde Mohammed told Reuters by
telephone.

"We cannot confirm the story, but the goat is in our custody. We
cannot base our information on something mystical. It is something
that has to be proved scientifically, that a human being turned into
a goat," he said.

Belief in witchcraft is widespread in parts of Nigeria, Africa's most
populous nation. Residents came to the police station to see the
goat, photographed in one national newspaper on its knees next to a
pile of straw.

In the photo, it would appear that the goat is walking on a series of unlit candles. This reminds me of the comedic stylings of "Shuntz and Valva" who took the dinner club circuit by storm back in the early '50's. Shuntz used to bring his wife, Valva out on stage dressed like some indistinguishable form of livestock and would soundly mount her whilst she twirled expensive china on sticks and balanced herself on votive candles. They even performed at Toots Shor's night club, opening for Sammy "Candy Man" Davis.

I saw this show once. Shuntz bummed a sawbuck off me and Valva slipped me the tongue. No goat though. They needed a goat.

"Goat's 'n' Nat" at 15th and Carson on the South Side. I ordered the goat clusters au gratin with a side of chipped goat onna raft. My server was 'Antonio'. He didn't even look Italian. He suggested the rum raisin goat chort sandwich and waffle fries. I should have listened to him. I haven't been able to leave the men's room at the 16th St. Laundro-Mat in days. The owner is demanding that I pay rent. I don't even wash my clothes here. I have my own machine at home.
