Cool comic for cool readers. There's a webcomic called "freefall" that is really cool and intelligent, plus it's loaded with deep philosophical issues.
Here's a link to the first one: http://freefall.purrsia.com/ff100/fv00001.htm
Basically, in the far future an alien that goes by the name of Sam Starfall is stranded on a planet being colonized and terraformed by humans, and he has an old derelict starship he's trying to get fixed. With the help of his robot pal Helix and Florence, a genetically engineered wolfgirl engineer he tries to get thru life where he is a stranger in a strange land, and where the natives have all sorts of weird customs he's not used to, like "ethics" and "laws".

Sounds like a fan of _Serenity_ (i.e., borrowed a bit on plot).

"Calucci's Dept.", # 21. The one where James Coco goes to church wearing only an athletic supporter and flip-flops. In the upper left panel on page 6, one can discern a small rendering of Carol Channing. I copped this one at the New Stanton/Hunker Comic-con last summer. They had food booths. I had the egg-custard pie and a large java. Bleeding runs and convulsions ensued. But I gotta rare comic.
