Idea for movie

How about showing "Hell Comes to Frogtown" - a movie from the late 70's/early 80's starring Roudy Roddy Piper of WWF wrestling fame? Once you see it, I think you'll agree it fits into Off Beat Cinema nicely.

I watched "Hell Comes to Frogtown" with my sack adhered to a cheap vinyl barstool in 'Toonta's Tiki Lounge' on Fifth and Lowery in the Arlington section of Jeannette, Pa. The heat was not bearable and Toonta had no intentions of repairing the air conditioner. I had the 'Lon Chaney Special' (fur on the burger) and the hash browns. I can't really recommend this film. I am anticipating the showing of "You Said Just the Tip and You Lied" starring Yves Montand and Barbara Billingsley as the madcap pranksters who burn down the East Belle Vernon Athletic Association Club. If you have the time and are in the area, you should stop in. It coincides with "Here, Hold Mine Night" at Toonta’s.  It's the annual occasion when you can get yours held.

Is that the same Toonta's in Jeannette, PA where they used to sell the "I got my Apple Bag Rasped @ Toonta's" T-shirts and smocks?

You're thinking of Toonta's II on Clay Ave. in dahn tahn Jeannette. I never made it to Bag Rasping Night, but I was fortunate enough to get a ticket for "Slough on the Seats Night". There was sloughing and free gouda wedges.

Y'know, nothing goes with a good slough like a gouda wedge.  Except maybe Orangina.

Last night I went out with the intent of renting "Hell Comes To Frogtown" due to it being recomended on this forum. When I enquired at the video store the young man working there said "Dude. No. You don't want that. Try this instead".
He sent me home with "You Knew I Was Lying When I Said Just The Tip" (1957) starring Yves Montaund, Jackie Cooper, and  Lilian Gish. The Avon Lady came to call while I watched. tip in

"Her Hideous Stench" (1951) B&W starring Babs Stanwyck and Yves Montand as a newly married couple who return from their honeymoon only to find their butler, (aptly portrayed by an adoring and youthful Andy Williams) possessed by an evil force who kills and kills again. I liked this one, but the scene where Andy sodomizes poor Babs seems feigned and uninspired. If you're gonna do sodomy in a film, the actresses should be coached to act as if they don't like it so much. Babs Stanwyck liked her sodomy. With a throb. She begged for it. Twice on Sunday.

Damn. And me all out of "whoa"s. (1/night, sorry)

C'mon, you can't be snooty and cineastey (or, if you can, sorry) about off beat cinema...and Frogtown is nothing if not offbeat. I haven't seen it in so long I can't remember if it has the smarmy self-consciousness of something like "Cannibal Women in the Avacado Jungle of Death"* or if it was a sincere effort to launch a movie career for Rowdy RP**.

I'd probably better look around the site to get a better grasp of the guiding principals of the show.

*-from which apex Bill Maher's career has steadily declined.
**-with a sincere budget of $429.
***-in re: the exchange between tiny and PMP...Gouda Wedgies sounds uncomfortable to the point of oxymorony, and if they had grate barstools they could have bagscraping EVERY night.

"Bagscraping Every Night" night tonight and tomorrow night and every other Wednesday night starting tomorrow night @ 8:00 pm on Cnannel troll.  His wife stays up nights.

"Hairy Potter and Steel Wool Merkin" (proj. 2010, animated series, rated NPC-17). voice of: Mike Tyson, Ellen Degeneres, dir. Robert Rodriguez) Desperate times call for desperate merkins as our lad painfully discovers after Hermione suffers a chemotherapy accident. Highlights: Hermione: "I thought you just had to wear black and listen to depressing music!" and Hairy: "Ow! My bag!"

"Shelley Duvall Face-Down and Still Talking" (1984)  I enjoyed the score and some of the scenes where they made holiday tinsel from Shelley's pubes. This part put me in a festive mood, so I watch it, and watch it and... I like feeling festive. Typically, when I'm feeling festive, my wife pushes me down a flight of stairs just to remind me that I should not be so nice. "People take advantage.", she says.

"Mats Wilander and the Hork-Filled Loafer" (1982) - part of the Swedish "Horksploitation" movement started by Björn Borg's internationally acclaimed "I Eat Your Sour Cream and I Hork" (1978).  Horksploitation films typically featured a Swedish Tennis star, various footwear, and horking.  Some saw this as a dilution of the Bergman tradition, some as a paean to emetophilia; in any case, swede-hork films failed to find a broader global audience with their original releases, but have enjoyed a renaissance thanks to websites like Horktube.com and whatsupwithchucknorrisandhisobviouslydyedhair.com...
