The flesh eaters!

Hey, there's a really horrible old movie called "The flesh eaters" that you cats ought to show on OBC because it has this terribly stereotyped "beatnik" in it.

Of course he dies horribly, but you could see it coming as soon as he showed up...

There are also a number of foreign zombie movies that are very good as well. No beatniks, however.

One really strange movie is "Cemetary Man" which ought to be shown on here. I think it was a French-Italian affair. You have to pay very close attention to understand what is going on, but it is fantastic and hilarious.[img][/img]

At last, another poster! Praise the lord!

Here is a site for fleah eater movies:

I was unaware many of these movies have been cut up and edited out, but this isa British site and they get away with far more censorship than goes on in the US.

I must admit that I caught "The Flesh Eaters" (edited) on AMC, but I did think that this certainly would make an OBC film. I want to see this again, as it was far more entertaining than I expected, with surprisingly good special effects and performances. The beatnik IS a cool character with a wild death indeed!

The ending, in which the monstrous, glowy critter nabs the hero, who ensures its destruction, reminded me vividly of like scenes in other films: "Deep Rising" and "Hellboy", in which both heroes do battle with the big baddies. In fact, a number of scenes seem to be referenced in movies that include "Jaws".

So, why doesn't a movie like this get aired much?! I suppose we can ask that of most of those "gems" we attempt to unearth.

This is my first post, but I'm hoping I can make my way back here occasionally. I'm spending far too much time at Yahoo!Answers, where I'm having too much fun solving movie mysteries for people. What they consider obscure very often is one that I would suppose most people know about. I guess not.

By the way, I'm old enough to have seen many of these at the drive-in and theater.

I know I mentioned this in anaother thread, so forgive me, but I laid in a copy of "Two On A Guillotine", and while I was disappointed that  it was less than I remembered it when I saw it 30 some years ago, it was still good in the bad way. For some reason, it was a difficult find.

Cemetary Man
love the will-o-wisps floating around burning cottonballs soaked in rubbing alchohol

I have taken the time to consider the will-o-wisp and I have decided that the next time I staple my tongue to the floor, I will consider the will-o-wisp. And her sister, too.

I am considering the tongue. and the butter.
Poe Man Poe

I have atempted to consider the butter. However, my mind keeps returning to better times when my thoughts gravitated toward lesser forms of slathering one's toast. Poon's Cactus Marmalade for example. Or bacon drippings with pepper. Pruno chaser.
